Asham Al-Watan Launches NAHDA to Rehabilitate Government Schools
Asham Al-Watan Development Organization launched, on Wednesday 19 August 2026, its "NAHDA" project supporting education and improving the learning environment, through the rehabilitation of government schools and the creation of safer, better-equipped and more sustainable learning environments for students.
The project targets the rehabilitation of 4 government schools across 4 different areas of Khartoum State: Salama (South Khartoum), Al-Droshab (North Bahri), Al-Muwaileh (rural West Omdurman), and Um Dawban (East Nile), with a total funding target of $160,000, at an estimated $40,000 per school. Phase One launches at Salama Government School, with implementation proceeding school by school according to an actual assessment of each school's needs, and a special focus on supporting girls' education given that the targeted schools are girls' primary schools.
Commenting on the launch, Engineer Suhaib, Head of the Projects Department at the organization, said that NAHDA focuses directly on repairing the structural damage affecting the targeted schools as the top priority, before moving on to the remaining rehabilitation areas — water, electricity, educational equipment and sanitation — stressing that every intervention under the project is built on an accurate field assessment of each school's needs rather than general assumptions.
For its part, the organization's Board of Directors commended the efforts of the Executive Office in planning the NAHDA project, preparing the needs study, and mobilizing the partnerships required for its launch, affirming its full support for continuing this institutional approach to planning and delivering development projects.
The organization called on donor organizations, companies, institutions, local and international partners, as well as individuals wishing to volunteer, to contribute to supporting the NAHDA project, helping to provide a safer and higher-quality learning environment for thousands of students in the targeted government schools in the future.

Asham Al-Watan Accredited as a Leading National NGO
The Humanitarian Aid Commission of Sudan granted the organization official accreditation, cementing its standing as a trusted partner in reconstruction and humanitarian service delivery, in recognition of its record since 2013 and its impact across more than 220 projects. The General Assembly also elected its ten-secretariat Executive Office, led by Secretary-General Ibrahim Abdalla Ahmed.
Organization Approves Plans & Programmes for the Next Phase
The Executive Office, meeting with the Board of Trustees, approved plans and programmes for the coming phase, stressing the need to promptly begin short- and medium-term projects and strengthen networking with national and foreign organizations for sustainable-impact projects.
